I didn't know Veryl too well, but we did have classes together. The big thing l remember was one time a few years after HS taking a motorcycle to the DMV in Pasadena and Veryl had to come out and check it before I could register it. The bike had some custom work done on it. One thing being a frame with the numbers covered with bondo so you couldn't see them. Normally DMV would want the bondo removed which really jacks up custom work. Veryl ignored that fact and signed off on it. I was very grateful for that gesture.
