A post from his sister, Tracy Burt on FaceBook

This message is long overdue. In fairness, I’ve made several attempts at writing all the things that are in my heart, but every time my tears blur my eyes and I say that I will try again tomorrow. Today is not that day either, because I’m already wiping my tears, but I’m going to give it a try.
How do I begin to say “thank you”? It’s a very small statement that doesn’t come close to how loved so many of you have made me feel these past two weeks. The cards, the flowers, the phone calls, the messages that simply ask “How are you doing?”, and “Hey, Trace, I’m thinking of you. Please know that you’re not alone “. And then there are the hugs. The really tight hugs. I read something once that spoke of the power that’s in a hug, because it’s the closest we get to our hearts touching one another. And if all those wonderful kindnesses were not enough, I’m so completely humbled by your generosity in contributing to the “Go Fund Me” that my personal angel, Bettyanne Bruin so lovingly set up for me to make the final arrangements for my brother less overwhelming. I really have no words to express my deep gratitude. I honestly had no idea that I could feel this loved! All of these tender acts of love and mercy have held me up and made me feel less alone in a world that’s suddenly not familiar to me.
I had originally planned on celebrating my brother’s life this weekend, but I’ve decided to wait for a few more weeks. I want his “going away party” to be filled with love, and laughter mixed with tears. If I were to do it this weekend it would be far less of the “send off” than he’s worthy of. I’m looking at either March 16th or March 23rd, depending on the availability of the church and those on the program. I will definitely let you know once I secure the date. Until then, THANK YOU!  Please know how much I mean it when I say that I love you! No one could ask for a better support group. Thank you for saying “I love you” in so many different ways! You’re truly the wind beneath my wings!

I did not know Veryl very well, although he liked that we were both Sag's.  He always seemed very nice, and my thoughts and well wishes go out to his family.

Veryl may you rest in peace.  Your posts over the last few years of your life showed some challenges with your health, with your roommates as well as your love for your sister.  I see you were a crossing guard - how wonderful. As others have said I did not know you well but certainly remember you and that says it all.  Fly with the angels.

I didn't know Veryl too well, but we did have classes together. The big thing l remember was one time a few years after HS taking a motorcycle to the DMV in Pasadena and Veryl had to come out and check it before I could register it. The bike had some custom work done on it. One thing being a frame with the numbers covered with bondo so you couldn't see them. Normally DMV would want the bondo removed which really jacks up custom work.
Veryl ignored that fact and signed off on it. I was very grateful for that gesture.

I had many classes with Veryl, but one fond memory I have was from Summer School typing class. He loved to tease Mr Joy everyday and Mr Joy gave it right back at him. Veryl had such a wonderful sense of humor and I know how much he will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Veryl was truly one of the kind, meek, and humble souls on planet earth.  I knew Veryl at school and also in the scouting program.  (His dad was a great scoutmaster of our troop for a number of years.)  My condolences go out to his sister Tracy.
