In Memory

Colleen Murphy

October 28, 1955 - January 26, 2021

This was posted on FaceBook by Colleen's niece.

On January 26, 2021 we lost my amazing Aunt Colleen. She was diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer in mid-December and did all she could to beat it, but unfortunately due to the size of the tumor and intensity of chemo we said our goodbyes late afternoon on January 26th.

She was cared for by wonderful ICU Nurses and Doctors, some of which had worked with her in the past, and all did their absolute best to ensure she was comfortable and well taken care of. I had the honor to be by her side and hold her hand when she passed away. She is now reunited with her Dad, Brother Pat, Brother Matt and other close family members.

Colleen was the strongest most resilient woman I’ve ever know. She overcame cancer multiple times in her life, with her first diagnosis happening at my age. She dedicated her life to taking care of others, and was a respected Respiratory Therapist for over 37 years. She worked throughout this pandemic and just retired in October/November. She loved her patients and always went above and beyond to show and provide care for those in need.

To everyone that knew her, I am so sorry for your loss. She truly was the most genuine and kind person who we will all miss greatly.

Saddened to learn of your passing, Colleen. I will always remember the fun and crazy times of our 20s. Lunches, dinners, etc... we tore up Pasadena! Remember Burger Continental....hmmmh....hmmmh... Rest in peace, my friend.

So sad about the loss of Colleen. She achieved a lot despite having to fight cancer multiple times in her life. As Kim Mann says, she had the courage and heart of a tiger. When I think of her, I will always see her sweet smile. RIP Colleen.

Colleen was both fun and funny yet gentle and genuine. Was so glad she was a fellow Tiger and in many of my classes at South Pas Junior High. She obviously led a noble and meaningful life. Respiratory therapists, especially in these times, are heroes. Or in her case, a she-ro. You will be remembered Colleen, always.

Marsha and all the other eloquent posters:

Thank you for the multiple reminders of who this woman was. Not having known her well myself, I consider it an intimate honor to read these tributes. Much love to her family and all who lived in her wide circle.
